Today on KSR: The offseason begins…

And just like that, it’s all over. After months of preseason hype and national title dreams going into the season, the Kentucky men’s basketball team sputtered out of the gates and failed to ever leave the runway, ending the year with a 9-16 final record, an opening-round loss in the SEC Tournament, and zero hopes of an NCAA Tournament bid.

Kentucky’s season is over, and there’s simply nothing to show for it outside of a bad taste in our mouths and more questions than answers heading into the most important offseason of John Calipari’s career. And that offseason begins today, as the UK head coach who made roughly $1 million per win during the 2020-21 season will now turn his attention to NBA draft decisions, the transfer portal, and the few remaining uncommitted high school standouts to round out next year’s roster.
