It’s been ten years since Rich Brooks’ turnaround of the Kentucky football team took place midway through his fourth season. It all started with a 49-0 embarrassment at LSU to drop UK to 3-4. The next week, they fought through the cowbells for a 34-31 win, leading into the Brooks’ big moment at home against Georgia.
It was a nasty, physical game in Commonwealth Stadium. There were goal line stands, fourth down stops, interceptions in the end zone, and arguably the greatest hit of the YouTube era. Myron Pryor destroyed Mario Raley, blasting him into oblivion.
That fourth quarter hit was the start of a shift in momentum.
