This breakout performance in Kentucky football's opener could be key for rest of season

LEXINGTON – The outcome of Kentucky football’s season-opening win over Louisiana Monroe was already certain when quarterback Will Levis improvised to throw a deep ball down the right sideline to senior wide receiver Isaiah Epps.

But no play in the 45-10 victory may have been more important for the future of the new-look Wildcat offense than the third-quarter heave.

“The throw down the sideline to Epps, that was not schemed up that way, just so we’re all clear,” offensive coordinator Liam Coen said after the game. “(Levis) made a throw. He saw the corner overlap the seam, and he throws it, just flicks it.
