Yet another college basketball transfer was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA.
This time it’s Ian Steere, who left the St. John’s program for greener pastures at UNC Wilmington at the immediate conclusion of this past season. On Monday the NCAA decided he is good to play right away for the Seahawks (I Googled it) this fall.
Steere’s path is a rocky one: he started at NC State as a four-star center in the 2018 recruiting class, but then transferred to St. John’s after playing only one game Raleigh. Once he became eligible at St. John’s back in December, Steere played five games and then was suspended indefinitely for the remainder of the season for “failing to meet standards expected from a member of our basketball program.
