Back on December 31, 2019, Kentucky defeated Virginia Tech in a thrilling come-from-behind in the Belk Bowl, 37-30.
In a game many national outlets declared one of the top bowl games of the year, Lynn Bowden Jr. dominated the competition, rushing 34 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns to go with 73 yards through the air and a game-winning 13-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds remaining. Earning Belk Bowl MVP honors, Bowden’s 233 rushing yards broke an NCAA record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a bowl game, topping Johnny Manziel (229 yards, 2013 Cotton Bowl) and Lamar Jackson (226 yards, 2015 Music City Bowl).
