One could say the Minnesota Timberwolves went “all-in” on their roster last year.
On draft night, they swapped first round picks with the Chicago Bulls and sent Zach LaVine East to bring four time All-Star Jimmy Butler West. With just one day before NBA free agency started, they dealt away their starting (and underwhelming) starting point guard Ricky Rubio to the Utah Jazz for a first round pick in 2018.
Then, they dished out a three year, $57 million contract to Jeff Teague (Rubio’s replacement) in free agency.
