Jeremy Pruitt celebrated Tennessee’s 27-point loss to Kentucky by firing an assistant coach.
Defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator Jimmy Brumbaugh was fired Sunday afternoon. Tennessee’s Rivals’ site Volquest was the first to report what has since been confirmed by multiple outlets. Kentucky’s offense gained 294 yards (4.8 yards per play) and scored 20 points against the UT defense in Saturday’s 34-7 UK victory at Neyland Stadium.
Even for angriest Vol fans, this move will come as a surprise. Brumbaugh only coached four games in Knoxville before Pruitt pulled the trigger. Brumbaugh came to Tennessee from Mel Tucker’s staff at Colorado to replace defensive line coach Tracy Rocker.
