In a non-COVID setting, it’s incredibly likely that Kentucky is not sitting on a 7-13 record with fewer than two weeks left until March.
But that’s not the world we live in. In what will go down as one of the most disappointing seasons in the dynastic history of Wildcat basketball, they have simply not even remotely met expectations. But that doesn’t mean they’re as bad as the record might indicate. Six of Kentucky’s losses this season have come by five points or less. Over the last two games, UK has started to finally win those tight contests, beating Auburn and Vanderbilt by four combined points; not exactly world-beating programs, but victories that Kentucky desperately needed.
