The 20 rebounds is a Champions Classic record and the most by a Kentucky player since 1994 (Jared Prickett). It is also the most rebounds by a Kentucky player in the John Calipar era.
Tshiebwe is the first UK player to have at least 17 points and 20 boards in a season opener since Dan Issel had 29 points and 24 rebounds against Xavier on November 30, 1968.
