Spotlight on Sahvir Wheeler again with TyTy Washington injury concern at Tennessee

LEXINGTON – Kentucky basketball point guard Sahvir Wheeler picked a good time to end his extended shooting slump.

After missing 19 consecutive field-goal attempts over the course of three-plus games, Wheeler drilled a 3-pointer just more than three minutes into Saturday’s 78-57 win over Florida. It was his first made field goal since the second half of the Jan. 29 win over Kansas.

While Kentucky coach John Calipari and Wheeler’s teammates insisted the diminutive junior point guard was still having a positive impact on the Wildcats during the slump – he totaled 27 assists in the three games he did not hit a field goal – Calipari also acknowledged the missed shots were weighing on Wheeler.
