LEXINGTON — One of the state's top high school quarterbacks has pledged to Kentucky football's 2021 recruiting class.
Somerset star Kaiya Sheron announced on Twitter Monday he had committed to UK. He picked the Wildcats over a scholarship offer from Marshall.
Sheron led Somerset to the Class 2A state championship in December with a 20-yard touchdown pass on the final play of a 34-31 win over Mayfield. The game-winning score capped an 86-yard touchdown drive in the final 28 seconds. Sheron completed 10 of 15 passes for 175 yards in the win.
A Courier Journal honorable mention All-State selection, Sheron passed for 3,218 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2019.
