Now that the nightmare 2020-21 Kentucky basketball season is over, perhaps it is time for some introspective reflection.
This was the worst year since the Eddie Sutton disastrous 13-18 record of 1988-89 (the last time we had to deal with the former Arkansas coach who had told the media he would crawl on his hands and knees to get the UK job).
But the UK team of 2020-21 was, as Winston Churchill once said, a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma — more ups and downs than a theme park roller-coaster.
There were some highs (trouncing Florida and Tennessee on their home floors), but there were far too many disappointments – blown leads, last minute collapses resulting in 10 losses of 7 points or less.
