Tennessee basketball got snubbed from the No. 2 seed in Sunday night’s NCAA Tournament bracket reveal.
The third-seeded Vols (26-7) will face 14th-seeded Longwood (26-6) in a first-round game on Thursday.
It’s as if the committee ignored that the Vols won the SEC Tournament.
Tennessee (26-7) compiled 10 Quad 1 victories and went 2-1 in games against Kentucky, which earned a No. 2 seed.
Rather than bemoan the seeding, though, the Vols should thank the selection committee for their tournament draw. Seeding matters less in March Madness than a team’s region assignment, and Tennessee enjoys a favorable outlook in the South region.
