Football is irrelevant during this time of a worldwide pandemic. Let’s get straight before we dive into a sports topic. However, as we move into the most important two to three weeks in our fight against COVID-19, I am beginning to sense a true doubt that the 2020 college football season will or should be played in its customary manner.
Projections of the virus’ infection rate are staggering. Curve flattening goes by no timeline. Therefore, I find it difficult see a set-in-stone timeline such as a football schedule being upheld. Even if infection numbers are on a downward turn come September, I also find it difficult to foresee mass gatherings that are customary with college football, especially in the southeastern portion of the United States.
