This will come as a total shock, but Rick Pitino is not happy about the Level II violation levied against him by the NCAA today.
In a statement released by Iona, the former Louisville coach said he “firmly” disagrees with the NCAA’s allegation that he did not satisfy his head coach responsibility when he failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance, a Level II charge. The allegation was one of four the University of Louisville was notified about earlier today for its involvement in the pay-to-play scheme from 2016-2018; three, including Pitino’s, were Level II allegations, while one was a Level I allegation.
