In his ongoing quest to make college basketball relevant in the SEC, Commissioner Greg Sankey named Mike Tranghese Special Advisor to the Commissioner for Men’s Basketball this afternoon. Tranghese is the former commissioner of the Big East Conference and a veteran of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, and will “provide advice and consultation” to help enhance men’s basketball in the SEC.
“Men’s basketball in the SEC gained positive momentum during the last 12 months, but we are not meeting our own expectations,” said Sankey. “As a conference, we seek continuing improvement in the national competitive success of our men’s basketball programs.
