Mississippi State enters the SEC Tournament as the #9 seed after finishing the regular season 14-13, 8-10 in the league. Kentucky got the best of the Bulldogs back on January 2nd in Starkville, 78-73 in double overtime. That was the “Dontaie Allen game” where the sharpshooter went for a game-high 23 points and made 7 threes.
Coach Ben Howland has the Bulldogs playing very stingy defense but they struggle on the offensive end. They rank 18th in the country in opponent field goal percentage (39.9%), 26th in opponent offensive efficiency (0.992), and do it all without fouling as opponents shoot only 14.
