Mark Stoops and Brad White hinted all week about younger players on the team potentially earning some playing time during Saturday’s game between Kentucky and Missouri. They were right. UK’s two highest-rated signees from the class of 2019 – Jared Casey and JJ Weaver – both saw the field Saturday night.
Weaver, an outside linebacker from Louisville, quickly contributed – he recorded an important third-down tackle by himself and an impressive fourth-quarter pass breakup. Casey, another Louisville-bred OLB, wasn’t listed anywhere on the official box score, but he did see multiple defensive possessions. I saw at least one tackle he assisted on during the final quarter.
