One of Kentucky’s highest-ranked players in the 2020 recruiting class is learning a new position this spring.
When Sam Anaele signed with Kentucky in December of 2019, he was ranked by Rivals as the No. 96 player overall and the fifth-ranked strong-side defensive end. The qualifier is important, because in Kentucky’s 3/4 defense he could play standing up as an outside linebacker or with his hand in the dirt as a defensive end.
Anaele arrived on campus last spring and logged five practices playing the Jack linebacker position, behind Jordan Wright and J.J. Weaver. The Lagos, Nigeria native did not log a snap during his redshirt season.
