Kentucky has certainly had its fair share of elite point guards throughout the program’s rich history, specifically during the John Calipari era in Lexington. Ranging from John Wall to Eric Bledsoe to Brandon Knight to Tyler Ulis to De’Aaron Fox, there have been some special names wear Kentucky across their chest.
Not only does incoming guard transfer Sahvir Wheeler know the history, he wants to have his name associated with the other greats to come through the program.
During his commitment announcement on The Field of 68 with Jeff Goodman on Monday, Wheeler turned heads by rattling off some of the best one-two punch guard duos over the course of Calipari’s time at Kentucky, making it clear that he’s comfortable playing alongside 2021 five-star signee TyTy Washington in the backcourt.
