I was actually hoping this would be the week we didn’t talk about Rick Pitino, but here he goes again, saying stuff to put himself back in the news. During his press conference today, Pitino took another shot at the one-and-done system, telling reporters he prefers graduate transfers to players who stay at school their freshman year then go to the pros.
“This one-and-done is better than the other one-and-done because they’re not just getting a 6-month eduction,” Pitino said, according to Jody Demling.
So many things here. Not only would Pitino take a player like Anthony Davis or Karl Towns over a graduate transfer in a heartbeat, the only reason he’s using the “education card” is because he can’t get a player like Anthony Davis, Karl Towns, or the countless one-and-dones that have passed through Kentucky.
