College basketball is not in action this weekend, yet the coaching carousel continues to turn.
On Friday Tim Cluess resigned as Iona’s head coach after leading the Gaels for ten seasons. Cluess resigned from his position due to health reasons but will remain with the university in an advisory role. Beginning in 2012 Cluess took Iona to the Big Dance in six of eight seasons as MAAC Tournament Champions.
Typically, Iona’s coaching search does not make news in Kentucky. Then Howie Kussoy from The New York Post reported that Rick Pitino is a leading target to fill the position.
