The tenth-ranked Wildcats suffered their first loss of the 2020-21 season Sunday afternoon. The experienced Richmond Spiders surged ahead in the second half to win 76-64 at Rupp Arena.
In the second half the Spiders seemingly couldn’t miss, while Kentucky struggled to get a bucket. Over the final 20 minutes Richmond made 59.4% of their field goals, while UK could not make one three-pointer, shooting just 30.6% from the floor.
Kentucky led at half but the tide turned around the ten-minute mark. Richmond went on a 12-2 run, capped off by a Grant Golden three-pointer with 7:43 to play that gave the Spiders a 12-point lead, one they would not relinquish.
