The Stoops family has been at the heart of the Florida State coaching search since the Seminoles terminated Willie Taggert. According to one FSU reporter, 247’s Josh Newburg, Mark Stoops recently met with officials for an interview about their head coaching vacancy.
Newburg reports Stoops met with FSU brass last week in Cincinnati for an interview. He was not offered the job. A week after the interview, the reporter was informed Stoops does not consider himself a candidate for Florida State’s head coaching vacancy.
The implication from this report is that the Seminoles are looking for the biggest name they can find, which is probably why FSU president John Thrasher is asking boosters to donate more money to the institution.
