March Madness: Kentucky's John Calipari gives PJ Washington update, previews Thursday's Abilene Christian Matt Stone, Louisville Courier Journal
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Kentucky will have to win its first NCAA Tournament game without star forward PJ Washington.
One day after UK coach John Calipari told reporters he expected Washington to play in the tournament despite spraining his foot in the SEC Tournament semifinals Saturday, he tweeted Washington will not play in the opener against No. 15 seed Abilene Christian after all.
"The specialists confirmed our original diagnosis that PJ Washington has a sprained foot and there is no fracture," Calipari tweeted.
