LEXINGTON, Ky. — PJ Washington leaving Kentucky for the NBA draft Tuesday surprised no one.

From almost the second Washington elected to return to UK after testing the draft waters last spring, it seemed a foregone conclusion he had just one year left in Lexington. Washington was looking for a first-round guarantee, and if he simply followed the natural progression one would expect after an inconsistent but promising freshman season, that looked well within his reach.
