Patrick Towles did not have the New Commonwealth Stadium debut he was dreaming of.
Towles only completed 47% of his passes, and threw an interception that setup a game-tying drive. However he still managed a solid 257 yards and 3 impressive touchdowns.
Mark Stoops described it succinctly, “A little bit inconsistent. He had some great throws, explosive plays, and then missed some opportunities.”
Towles was one or two throws away from a completely different game. After starting the second half with an overthrow, his next pass was underthrown. “I think that does play into it a little bit,” Stoops said.
