Kentucky coach Nick Mingione said he thought Louisville right fielder Colin Lyman was a couple steps too shallow in the third inning.
So Mingione figured the line drive Kentucky's Marcus Carson sent toward the wall was headed over Lyman's head.
"Obviously I was wrong," Mingione said.
Lyman made the defensive play of the game, sprinting back and diving to steal an extra-base knock from the Wildcats.
That's indicative of how the opening game 5-2 loss in the NCAA super regional went for Kentucky. The Wildcats didn't get enough hits, couldn't score enough runs and now face elimination on Saturday.
