For the first time since 2012, a Kentucky men’s basketball player has scored 1,000 points as a Wildcat.
On Wednesday night in the first half of action against Florida, Kentucky center Oscar Tshiebwe recorded his 1,000th career point on a banked-in mid-range jumper. Tshiebwe came into the game needing 15 points to hit the 1K mark and wasted no time at all making it happen. The 6-foot-9 senior started 7-7 against the Gators, recording exactly 15 points in the first half of play to reach the threshold. He is now the 61st player in program history to surpass 1,000 points.
