One senior's injury shows how Kentucky closes the gap between football powers

LEXINGTON – Even as one of just three remaining undefeated Southeastern Conference teams, No. 14 Kentucky is perceived to be significantly behind the other two, No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia.

But for at least one game at one position, Kentucky will gain a glimpse at what it feels like to be one of the big boys this weekend.

Alabama and Georgia are among college football’s biggest powerhouse programs. Those teams don’t rebuild. They reload each season. Star players leave those rosters every year for the NFL draft and are replaced with another group of four and five-star recruits.
