After a slow start vs. Toledo, Kentucky’s offense racked up 24 second half points. The second half surge was created by multiple explosive plays, including Kavosiey Smoke’s 40-yard touchdown run. The increased offensive tempo has one metric predicting an offensive onslaught tonight.
In Bill Connelly’s SP+ metrics, Kentucky’s offense ranked 19th in the country after one week. The SP+ system now calls for 50-31 victory over the Eagles.
The last time Kentucky scored 50 points or more, they put up 56 against the abysmal Louisville Cardinals last season. Under Mark Stoops Kentucky has scored more than 50 against an FBS team just one other time, a 62-point performance against New Mexico State in 2016 that served as Benny Snell’s coming-out party.
