LEXINGTON – With preseason practice beginning for college basketball teams Wednesday, a closer look at three questions facing the Kentucky basketball team.
1. Will Olivier Sarr be eligible?
The fact that Kentucky has made it to preseason practice without final word on whether Wake Forest transfer Olivier Sarr will be eligible to play this season should be embarrassing to everyone involved in the waiver process.
Multiple reports have stated the NCAA has approved Sarr’s request for a waiver from the normal requirement that Division I transfers sit out a season, but Sarr requires an additional waiver from the Southeastern Conference because his transfer would violate the league’s normal policy that all undergraduate transfers have multiple years of eligibility remaining.
