On Tuesday, head coach Mark Stoops announced that Scalzo tore his ACL in Saturday’s team scrimmage. It is the same knee in which Scalzo previously tore the ACL during the 2018 high school playoffs.
Scalzo will now be redshirting in his first collegiate season while rehabbing from his latest setback.
A true freshman out of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Florida, Scalzo was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2019. He was the 28th-ranked dual-threat quarterback via 247 Sports composite.
Scalzo tore his ACL in the state playoffs this past season, but he’s made a full recovery and has been a full participant in UK training camp.
