The Kentucky Wildcats may have just lost a reserve quarterback to injury.
Following a team scrimmage on Saturday, head coach Mark Stoops announced that Nik Scalzo suffered a knee injury. Scalzo is now undergoing tests, so it’s still unclear how severe it could be.
A true freshman out of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Florida, Scalzo was a 3-star recruit in the Class of 2019. The 28th-ranked dual-threat quarterback via 247 Sports composite also held offers from Tulane, Illinois, Harvard, Buffalo and Akron among others.
Scalzo tore his ACL in the state playoffs this past season, but he’s made a full recovery and has been a full participant in UK training camp.
