In search of Kentucky sports news that isn’t deeply depressing? Well look no further than the Bellarmine Knights, who are currently riding an 8-game win streak and sit alone atop the Atlantic Sun Conference in their first year of Division I play. This weekend’s two-game sweep of Jacksonville in Freedom Hall marked four straight weekend doubleheaders the Knights have carried, propelling them to a surprising 8-2 mark in conference play, one game ahead of defending champ Liberty.
Their recent hot streak has earned Twitter praise from several high-profile figures in college basketball, including Jeff Goodman and head coach Scott Davenport’s former mentor, Rick Pitino:
In its first year as a D1 member, Bellarmine has won eight games in a row and sits alone in first place of the ASUN.
