ESPN’s Jeff Goodman and Jeff Borzello reported on Wednesday that Skal Labissiere has not yet been cleared to play by the NCAA.
Gerald Hamilton, Labissiere’s guardian, would not comment on why the 6-foot-11 big man has not yet been cleared to play. Sources told ESPN that Hamilton’s relationship with Labissiere is the reason that the NCAA is still looking into the freshman.
Hamilton became Labissiere’s guardian after he moved the the United States from Haiti in 2010 after an earthquake.
Labissiere has been practicing with the Cats according to Eric Lindsey from UK media relations. Lindsey said that Kentucky will not confirm the eligibility of its players until game day.
