NCAA says no more new bowl games for three years

Remember when Kentucky had a chance of making a bowl game even though they only had a 5-7 record? That’s because of the ridiculous number of bowls that have been added over the past few years, but the influx of new bowls is over…for the next three years. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, the NCAA just approved a three-year moratorium on new bowl games, leaving the total current number at 41.

The ruling halts the creation of three new bowls in Austin, Texas; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Charleston, South Carolina. While I agree the number of bowls was getting out of control, as Kentucky fans, the more bowls, the better, and those three cities sound like great vacation destinations in December.
