The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball program will not be participating in the 2020 postseason, not like they were anyway, after the NCAA has banned them from competing in the NCAA tournament after Georgia Tech boosters were found to have violated NCAA rules.
Former Georgia Tech player, and current booster Jarrett Jack, was found to have taken a recruit (named to be former Duke player Wendell Carter) to a strip club in Atlanta and provided Carter with $300 to spend at the club.
Another booster provided clothing, shoes, meals, and lodging to recruits.
The Punishment handed down to Georgia Tech is as follows:
- Postseason ban for 2019-20
- Four year probation period, with a scholarship reduction each year
- $5,000 fine plus a 2% of the men's basketball budget
- Vacation of wins for one season (so not a lot)
- No official visits during home games for two years
These punishments were handed down to GT for only two level one violations.
