NCAA clears Tennessee player Uros Plavsic to play immediately

The University of Tennessee basketball team just got some good news. The NCAA cleared Uros Plavsic, a 7-footer originally from Serbia who came to UT as a transfer from Arizona State. He redshirted with the Sun Devils last season and will now be immediately eligible to play for the Volunteers as a redshirt freshman.

Plavsic left his native Serbia in 2017 and played high school basketball in Chattanooga. His host family still lives in that area, which played a major role in his decision to transfer from ASU to Tennessee last May. Plavsic was initially denied eligibility from the NCAA in early November, although he did receive a “travel wavier” later that month that allowed him to attend road games with his teammates.
