LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky made its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2017 one to remember Friday.
UK blanked Ball State 4-0 at Kentucky Proud Park, marking the first time in program history the Wildcats shut out an opponent in NCAA play.
It was a pitcher’s duel for majority of the contest — the lone run through the first seven innings courtesy of Wildcat catcher Devin Burkes’ solo home run over the right-field wall in the bottom of the fourth. UK broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth, though, tacking on three more runs.
