LEXINGTON, Ky. – There were two showers in the old Kansas basketball locker room at Allen Fieldhouse when a first-time assistant named John Calipari showed up in 1983.
"I’m thinking, ‘Phog Allen showered in this shower,'" Calipari said Friday. "So they had a good shower and then they had this old one. I always went in the old one."
The man who hired Calipari at Kansas, former Jayhawks coach Ted Owens, was at Kentucky's basketball practice Friday. The No. 4 Wildcats host the No. 2 Jayhawks Saturday, with a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament potentially at stake.
