While the University of North Carolina awaits punishment from the NCAA for academic misconduct, they could be facing judgment from another organization today.
The Tar Heels could learn of potential punishments today from the SACS, an accreditation organization that has been reviewing the findings of a report that detailed nearly two decades of academic fraud. As our own Hank Rippetoe wrote, they could lose accreditation status for the paper classes they've used to help athletes stay eligible for over a decade.
I doubt anything major comes out of this, but it will be interesting to watch nonetheless what the SACS says of UNC's wrongdoings.
