LEXINGTON — Henry Clay High School graduate Walker Buehler became the first Kentucky high school or college alumnus to play in the MLB All-Star game since 2016 Tuesday when he surrendered one run in one inning of relief for the National League.
Buehler's appearance was the first for the state's growing list of MLB players since Butler High School and U of L alumnus Adam Duvall played in the 2016 game. The Lexington native was a worthy choice with an 8-1 record and 3.46 ERA for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first half this season, but he will soon face competition to keep hold of his title as the best local player in the big leagues.
