West Virginia jumped out to an 11-point lead less than seven minutes into the game, but Morehead answered with a 14-2 run to take a 20-19 lead with 8:20 left in the first half.
The Mountaineers steadied the ship, eventually stretching the lead to seven points at halftime, but Morehead rallied again, pulling within one point with 13:58 remaining.
