Mitch Barnhart chatted with Tom Leach over Zoom for this week’s BBN Live on the UK Athletics’ Twitter feed, and in doing so the UK athletics director addressed the unfortunate postponement of the Governor’s Cup football game. When the Southeastern Conference voted to play a conference-only football schedule, it eliminated the annual UK-UofL rivalry game, to which Barnhart says don’t worry about the game’s long-term future.
“That’s something we’ve played for several years and… we want to get back to it,” Barnhart said, when asked for a message to the fans who are disappointed in the cancelation of the 2020 Governor’s Cup game.
