Mitch Barnhart explains the decision to keep Louisville out of NCAA Tournament

The rivalry that never stops got a bit more interesting on Sunday night.

After the entire bracket for the 2021 NCAA Tournament was announced on the Selection Show, teams expected to miss out on the Big Dance such as Kentucky and Duke were unsurprisingly left off, but so was another popular program with a case to sneak in at the last second. The Louisville Cardinals were not one of the 68 teams called to the field by the NCAA’s selection committee, which is head by none other than Kentucky Athletic Director, Mitch Barnhart.

Barnhart went on the March Madness Selection Show and later ESPN Radio (hosted by KSR’s own Matt Jones) to talk about some of the decisions made–and one of the questions asked was the thought process behind leaving the Wildcats’ in-state rival out of the tourney.
