It’s been just under three weeks since the news first broke that Memphis and freshman James Wiseman had broken NCAA rules when his family accepted money from coach Penny Hardaway. A full three weeks since Memphis got the information, and decided to play Wiseman anyway. Three weeks since the school essentially gave a middle finger to the NCAA, channeled its favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movie and say “Catch Us If You Can.”
Well, three weeks later, all that public posturing came back to bite Memphis, since – as we all know by now – the NCAA suspended Wiseman for 12 games on Wednesday night.
