Memphis declares James Wiseman ineligible, will apply for reinstatement

The University of Memphis has officially declared star freshman James Wiseman ineligible from competition.

This morning, Wiseman decided to withdraw his lawsuit against the NCAA and the school, with Memphis responding by declaring the former five-star center and No. 1 overall prospect ineligible.

According to the official release, Memphis will “immediately apply for his reinstatement.” Until then, though, Wiseman will be withheld from competition moving forward.

“The NCAA is fully aware of the unique nature and challenges in this particular case, and the University is confident that the NCAA will render a fair and equitable decision consistent with its mission,” the official statement continued.
