Matthew Mitchell has successful brain surgery

Matthew Mitchell has been in the news a lot lately, recruiting like crazy and pulling in transfers that will have his program in great shape when play resumes. He was in the news this weekend, however, in a more unfortunate story.

According to a Facebook post by Mitchell’s wife, Jenna Ramsey Mitchell, the UK Hoops coach had to have surgery to remove blood from his brain.

“About 4 months ago he fell and suffered a concussion, was not well for a couple of weeks, then great after that,” she posted. “Then about 2 weeks ago, he went to the hospital with a faint but persistent headache and they discovered he had blood on the brain and he need surgery (subdural hematoma).
