LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mark Stoops appears to be closing in on hires for his two vacant defensive assistant positions.

North Texas assistant Derrick LeBlanc is the favorite to become UK's new defensive line coach, and former Eastern Kentucky University head coach Dean Hood is the favorite to be named outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator, a source confirmed to the Courier-Journal. Neither hire is expected to be made official until Monday.

A UK spokeswoman said the school could not confirm any hires at this time.

LeBlanc spent one season at North Texas after previous stops at Pear River College, Southern Mississippi, Wyoming, LSU, Missouri State, Arkansas Tech and Henderson State.
